Tasty Tuesday ~ Bircher Muesli by @FoodSnobSTL

Hey everyone! It's time for another Tasty Tuesday from the kitchen over at www.foodsnobstl.com!

Actually, the kitchen has been closed for a week while we were in Switzerland on a trip! It was an absolute dream vacation. Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. While we were there, we enjoyed a lot of amazing food. I want to share with you a traditional Swiss breakfast dish. If you have ever made or heard of overnight oats, it is very similar. It's incredibly easy to make and delicious as well!

Bircher Muesli

Serves 1

1/4 cup plain yogurt
2 tbsp. milk
1/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats (not quick cook)
1/4 orange
1/2 banana, cut into small chunks
1 tbsp. raisins 1 tbsp. walnuts
1/4 apple, cut into small chunks
1 tsp. cinnamon

In a small bowl, stir everything except orange together. Squeeze juice of orange piece into bowl and stir again. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

If you like overnight oats, you will LOVE this. If you don’t like overnight oats, I am pretty confident you will love this too. Because it uses more fruit, juice and milk than other overnight oat recipes I’ve seen, it has a unique sweetness and creamier consistency.

This is a perfect summer breakfast. I look forward to making a big batch for the week and adding strawberries, black berries, kiwi, and blueberries. It would also be a fantastic snack after a hard workout or run. Have I convinced you? Do you think you’ll try bircher muesli?

  1. This looks delish. I've gotta go get some regular oats (I've only got the quick ones in the cabinet) and then I'm going to give this a try.

Thanks for putting this together for us!
