The Case For Grace ~ For The Whole Family {Giveaway}

Grace

Book Review Disclosure

One thing that I am quite sure of is that we are all in need of grace. I'm not talking about grace as in poise, which I could use a good dose of as well. What I'm talking about is that unmerited favor bestowed upon us by God through His Son Jesus Christ.

I need His grace even more than the air I breathe and the food I eat. Without it I may as well be dead. God's grace is what sustains me and gives me a hope of a future. The exciting thing to me is that this grace is readily available to anyone who seeks it. The supply isn't limited and it never expires.

I just finished reading Lee Strobel's newest book The Case For Grace. In it he shares his story about discovering this grace. He was a self-avowed atheist who ran head long into the God of the universe Who chose to shower Lee in His grace. The story is powerful and very moving but what I found even more interesting was the accounts from other people.

The people that are featured in the book are ordinary people that you might see every day at your local McDonald's or WalMart. Some come from tattered backgrounds while others seem to have it all. And if you are like me you'll tend to see a bit of yourself in each of them. What binds them all together is their encounters with Christ and what happens to them after meeting Him.

You see grace isn't just extended to the wayward, it's also given each day to those who follow Christ closely. The beauty is when you recognize what has been given to you without expectation of anything in return. That fact alone makes me desire to live for Him even more.

As with many of his other books, Lee has written three separate books on grace. The adult version, the Student Edition, and Case For Grace For Kids.

The Case For Grace by Lee StrobelThe Case for a Creator explored the scientific evidence for God;

The Case for Christ investigated the historical evidence for Jesus;

The Case for Faith responded to eight major objections about Christianity;

The Case for The Real Jesus refuted the current challenges to the Bible and Christ …

Now, in The Case for Grace, Lee Strobel crafts a compelling and highly personal experiential case for God, focusing on God’s transforming work in the lives of men and women today.

Writing with unusual candor, Lee draws upon his own journey from atheism to Christianity to explore the depth and breadth of God’s redeeming love for spiritually wayward people. He travels thousands of miles to capture the inspiring stories of everyday people whose values have been radically changed and who have discovered the “how” and “why” behind God’s amazing grace. You’ll encounter racists, addicts, and even murderers who have found new hope and purpose. You’ll meet once-bitter people who have received God’s power to forgive those who have harmed them—and, equally amazing, people mired in guilt who have discovered that they can even forgive themselves.

Through it all, you will be encouraged as you see how God’s grace can revolutionize your eternity and relationships… starting today.

The Case For Grace Student Edition by Lee Strobel
The Case For Grace Student Edition contains the same subject matter as the adult book but it is written for teens. The opening chapters describe Lee's rocky relationship with his earthly father and how that dysfunction drove him to God.

Don't be mistaken, teens do not have to have a difficult relationship with their parents in order to relate to this book. The following chapters share stories from people just like them who also need grace. This is the perfect companion for the adult version.

Case For Grace For Kids by Lee Strobel
Case For Grace For Kids answers to questions about grace that even adults struggle to answer. You meet skeptics every day. They ask questions like:

Can God really change lives? Will He forgive even my worst sins?

Here's a book written in kid-friendly language that gives you all the answers. Packed full of stories of everyday people whose lives have been changed. The Case For Grace For Kids shows that God's love is for everyone. Inside, you'll discover what grace really means--and what it does.

This book is suggested for children ages 8-12.

One of my favorite things about this set of books is that it makes it possible for the whole family to read and discuss the topic of grace together. The subject matter is the same in each of the books but they are written to specific audiences and designed to be understood by that age group.

If you are looking for a way to incorporate meaningful family time into your routine I would suggest getting these books and starting with a chapter a week discussion. Add in some pizza and popcorn and you're sure to have a wonderful time drawing together as a family while drawing closer to God.
