Elite Guardians #2
Romantic Suspense

INTENSITY. SKILL. TENACITY.
THE BODYGUARDS OF ELITE GUARDIANS AGENCY HAVE IT ALL.

Katie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency, stumbles upon her next assignment quite by accident. Spotting blue lights at a familiar restaurant, she stops to investigate, only to discover that owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who will go to any lengths to put him out of business.

Daniel might be concerned, but he's not convinced that a bodyguard--and a female one at that--is necessary. A new attack and his niece's urgings are enough to make him reconsider. He and Katie must figure out who's behind the intimidation and threats--before a would-be killer strikes again.

My Thoughts

This new series by Lynette Eason just continues to get better. I liked the first book, Always Watching, but I REALLY liked Without Warning. This time around the action focuses on Katie Singleton who is one of the partners in the Elite Guardians Protection Agency. The case that is the focus of the novel came about by an interesting twist of fate. Katie teaches a self-defense class a couple of times a week at the local gym. One of her students is Riley Matthews.

Riley's parents were killed in a tragic accident several years ago and she is now being raised by her beloved uncle Daniel Matthews. Daniel is a successful restaurant owner and pilot. He's also quiet wealthy. The twist of fate happens when Katie sees that there is a crime scene at Daniel's restaurant and she stops to see if Katie and Daniel are okay.

What ensues after that pivotal stop makes for some very heart-pumping suspense. Lynette Eason's thrillers are the best sort. She leaves bread crumb trails along the way that are hardly recognizable with the first reading. If you go back and look at the story a second time you will see the brilliance of the hidden yet visible clues along the trail.

If you've not yet read a book by Lynette Eason this series is a good place to start. We have read some of her past novels in our book club and had a blast discussing how clever the plots are. And by the way, the romance that develops between Katie and Daniel is nice and spicy as well. I heartily recommend this book to all lovers of romantic suspense.
