Christmas Movie Marathon ~ Day 8: The Sound of Music Live Special Starring Carrie Underwood

The Sound of Music is one of my all time favorite musicals. I've seen it so many times I can't even count! A live stage production is a great way to watch it so I'm looking forward to seeing this live event on TV.

Description:

A recently widowed and retired military man, Captain Von Trapp is in need of a governess for his children. Maria has entered the convent to become a nun. But she is too free spirited for any convent, so the reverend mother sends her to be the governess for the Von Trapp family. The rebellious children first reject Maria then learn to love her free spirited nature. Maria is able to introduce art and freedom to the children and eventually their father embraces it as well.

Austria becomes entangled in the war and Captain Von Trapp does not agree with Austria's position in the war. To keep his family safe they  must flee from the Nazis and escape into Switzerland.
