My Thoughts

Teaching little ones that Jesus was once a baby just like they were is one of the first ways that we introduce Him to our children. It's a concept that Doris Rikkers has made just a bit easier to teach in her delightful new book Little Jesus, Little Me.

She begins with stating that "Jesus was a little baby . . .just like me." And then takes the reader on a journey of milestones like learning to walk, being rocked to sleep, and reading. In each event she tells the reader (your little one) that Jesus did these same things just like they do.

I know this is a very simplistic book but I think it is very valuable in setting the stage for our children to grasp what John 1:14 tells us. "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." It's a humbling thought the older you get but as a little one it's important to know that Jesus came into this world the same way they did and did the same everyday things that they do. 

Lizzie Walkley's illustrations are just adorable. I love the sweet little children that she's drawn. Their innocent delight just leaps off the page. 

I recommend this simple little book to anyone that is beginning to introduce their little ones to Jesus.

My Thoughts

This book and the rest of the books in the series should be on every toddler's bookshelf. It has been the best way to change an attitude that we have found. After all how long can you continue throwing a hissy fit when If You're Happy and You Know It is being sung. 

This delightful little board book has brought our family lots of laughter and silly antics. You already know the lyrics and I'm sure you can even add some additional verses. I'm pretty sure that your family with have as much fun with it as we have. 

Ms. Szucs whimsical drawings of animated animal characters are just icing on the cake. The colors are bright and very engaging. Our little ones loved finding and identifying all of the animals included on each page.

This book really would make a wonderful addition to your little one's personal library. It would also make a perfect baby shower gift. You would be doing that new momma a favor and she wouldn't even realize it.
