The Quiet Crazy Easter Day by Jill Roman Lord

You might think of the first Easter as a quiet, peaceful morning. But with all creation celebrating the risen Lord of Lords, it may not have been so quiet! The Quiet Crazy Easter Day imagines the crazy celebration that might have occurred when Jesus arose . . . a festive day filled with chirps and croaks, shouts and coos and loop-de-doos. Join the rejoicing as we follow along with the Easter story and learn how we too can shout and sing and spread the news that Jesus is alive.

My Thoughts

Your Easter basket just isn't complete without a new book. This year all the littles in our family are getting a copy of The Quiet Crazy Easter Day. It's a padded board book that holds up well to the treatment that chubby little hands dish out.

I am enthralled with the illustrations. They are quite cheerful with all the beautiful colors and whimsical animals. I also liked the concept that the story was presenting beyond that of the Easter story. It begins the understanding that all creation hears and obeys the voice of God.

We tend to think of Easter as a very solemn time . . . and it is, but it is also a season of great rejoicing. I love the image that while the followers of Christ were still in mourning, grieving the loss of their teacher. The animals knew that Christ had risen and were rejoicing. Just think of the sounds of all the animals. Donkeys braying, birds chirping, and sheep bleeting. It must have been a glorious sound.

I recommend this to anyone with young children. It is a good addition to your home library.
