Operation Shoebox ~ A Way To Support Our Troops!

During this season of giving we thought we would share an idea for you and your family to bless a soldier who will be away from their home over the holidays.

Operation Shoebox is an organization that provides shoeboxes of goodies to soldiers year round. Can you imagine how nice it would be to receive a box of goodies when you are so far from home? Operation Shoebox provides that opportunity. They gather the stuff and then make a shipment once a week, fifty weeks a year.

Want to know how you can help? You can of course always donate monetarily at www.OperationShoebox.com But if you would like to make it a bit more personal gather up your gift items and send them to the headquarters of Operation Shoebox and they will send them on.

Belleview, FL. 34420

The post office has flat rate packages that you could get and fill up for one flat rate no matter how much you stuff in! If you are sending anything liquid like shampoo or lotion they ask that you please put it in a ziplock baggie.

Suggested goodies to include:
  • Reading material ~ books, magazines, audio books and even DVDs
  • Snacks ~ hard candy, powdered drinks, coffee (can you imagine getting some Starbucks?!!) granola bars, etc.
  • Personal care items ~ lotion, sunscreen, chapstick, soft comfy socks, knitted scarfs, hats and mittens
  • Cards ~ send one from you and then enclose some blank ones for the soldier to send

Are you interested in doing more than sending a one-time gift? You can also ADOPT A TROOP.

Individual volunteers, classes or groups can meet the needs of a hero directly by adopting a troop; when you sign up, you are able to ship care packages and letters directly to an individual member of the armed forces.

When you adopt a troop, you commit to sending a card weekly and a care package monthly. Troops available for “adoption” have given Operation Shoebox permission to release their mailing address to a supporter. Go here to fill out the form and then their adoption coordinator will contact you with a match.
