Book Review ~ Over The Edge by Mary Connealy @MaryConnealy

Mary Connealy
The Kincaid Brides, Book 3
Historical Fiction

Back of the book:

Seth Kincaid remembers almost everything . . . except getting married!

Seth Kincaid survived a fire in a cave, but he hasn’t been the same since. Then he fought in the Civil War and returned to Colorado crazier than ever.

Somewhere along the line, it appears Seth got married. Oh, he has a lot of excuses, but his wife isn’t too happy to find out Seth doesn’t remember her. Callie isn’t a long-suffering woman. When Seth disappeared, she searched, prayed, and worried. Now she’s come out west to wrangle her long-lost husband.

Seth is willing to make amends. Callie is more interested in shooting him. Can they rekindle their love before one of them goes over the edge?

Mary Connealy writes romantic comedy with cowboys. She is the author of the acclaimed Lassoed in Texas, Montana Marriages, and Sophie’s Daughters series. Mary has been nominated for a Christy Award, was a finalist for a RITA Award, and is a two-time winner of the Carol Award. She lives on a ranch in eastern Nebraska with her very own romantic cowboy hero, Ivan. They have four grown daughters—Joslyn, married to Matt; Wendy; Shelly, married to Aaron; and Katy—and two spectacular grandchildren, Elle and Isaac.

My thoughts:

Mary Connealy can really bring a fictitious cowboy to life. With The Kincaid Brides series she has imagined not one but three over the top hunky men to entertain us. Over the Edge is the third in the series and focuses on Seth Kincaid and his forgotten bride Callie…oh and don’t forget their son Conner, the one that Seth knows nothing about. Throw in Heath Kincaid, a fourth brother from their father’s other family, and you have the makings of a rowdy cowboy romance.

In the first two installments of this series we got to know the Kincaid family pretty well. We focused on Rafe and Julia in Out of Control. Then we picked up with the story of Ethan and Audra in In Too Deep. Woven into those two storylines were the escapades of younger brother Seth.

We all fell in love with Seth as the dangerously wild yet disarmingly handsome cowboy of all our fantasies. The problem we discover in this book is that with all his escapades Seth is slowly loosing grasp of his sanity. Now that he’s reunited with his beloved Callie can he be brought back from the brink?

This was a delightful finish to a great series. When it comes to romance in the Wild West, Mary Connelly definitely does it best!
