Adrian Rogers with
Steve Rogers
Non
Fiction/Christian Doctrine
Back of the book:
Let your faith take root.
Whether you are just beginning your faith journey, or
have been a believer for decades, What
Every Christian Ought to Know will establish you in the core Truths of the
Bible, equip you to confidently articulate your faith, and empower you to live
a dynamic Christian life. In his refreshingly relatable style, Dr. Rogers
covers essential topics such as salvation, eternal security, prayer, the Holy
Spirit, resisting temptation, and finding God’s will, and unpacks their
practical application for your everyday Christian walk.
One of Adrian Roger’s most popular books, this new
edition includes an introduction from Steve Rogers, president of the Adrian
Rogers Pastor Training Institute, plus discussion questions for personal
reflection or group study.
About the author:
For over fifty years, Adrian Rogers consistently
presented the Good News of Jesus Christ with strong conviction, compassion and
integrity. One of America’s most respected Bible teachers, he communicated to
millions through his Love Worth Finding radio and television ministry that
continues to be broadcasted today in more than 150 countries around the world.
Dr. Rogers was also senior pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church near Memphis.
A leader in his denomination, serving three terms as
president of the Southern Baptist Convention, Dr. Rogers was honored to be
inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame in 2003 by the National Religious
Broadcasters. He passed away in 2005. His son Steve Rogers continues to run
Love Worth Finding, as well as the Adrian Rogers Pastor Training Institute. Dr.
Rogers is also survived by his wife Joyce, three other children, nine
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
My thoughts:
Several years ago my family was unable to attend a local
church for about a year. Every Sunday we would gather together in front of the
TV and tune in Love Worth Finding and
listen to Dr. Rogers broadcast. One of my absolute favorite things about this
book is that I could “hear” his voice as I was reading his words. Even though
he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on.
This is a rerelease of this book which was originally
published in 2005. According to the book the original content was held intact.
The only addition has been added discussion questions.
When I read a book I use sticky notes in the book to
remind me of important passages that I want to go back and read again. This book
looks like a porcupine with all the tabs sticking out of it! I have been a
Christian since I was nine years old so the contents that are contained within
are not new concepts to me. But it was a wonderful refresher course. I found
myself continually saying…oh yeah, that is why I believe what I believe.
This would be a wonderful gift for a new believer. But I
have to say, as a seasoned Christ follower, I loved reading through it and
basking in the immensity of the plan that God has for each of us. I think after
you read it you will agree with me that the book should be a staple in every
church library and every personal library. It would be an excellent resource to
use in your personal study times.
