About the book:

Open Your Child’s Heart to the Amazing Love of Jesus

Getting to know Jesus means more than just telling His stories. It means building a lifelong relationship with the Lord. The Jesus and Me Bible Storybook begins that relationship by revealing the amazing—and personal—love of the Savior for each of His children.

Bestselling author Stephen Elkins retells these stories of Jesus, beginning with the earliest prophecies of His birth and continuing all the way through to His resurrection and ascension. Special “Jesus and Me” devotionals help children apply the Savior’s truths to their own lives, while sweet, simple prayers encourage them to always look to the Lord. With the Jesus and Me Bible Storybook, your child will discover . . .

the adventure of a life of faith!

Take A Peek Inside The Book!

My thoughts:

I am just tickled pink with this book. The illustrations are bright and colorful and the content is not only age comprehension appropriate but it is attention span appropriate.

Each of the sixty-two stories focus on the life of Christ. One of the interesting things that I noticed was that the stories are told in past tense. I appreciated the note at the beginning of the book from the author to explain this. Mr. Elkins says that he wrote it in past tense because the stories are referring to when Jesus walked upon the earth. He was also clear to point out that "we are blessed to serve a risen Savior who holds the same power today to heal, bless, and forgive as He did two thousand years ago."

Each story starts with the Scripture reference and then tells a simplified version of the story. A very short prayer follows that is very sweet and smile worthy. Let me give you an example of one: "Dear Father, thank You for Jesus, Your Word made flesh. And thank You for the Bible, Your Word made paper! Amen." I love that! The last thing for each section is a portion entitled Jesus and Me, and it describes how you (the child) fit into the plan Jesus has in mind.

I would recommend this for a short and sweet, yet educational daily reading for you and your preschooler. The lessons are simple but very clearly presented in a way that will help your little one grow in their knowledge of Christ.

  7. My favorite old testament story is that of Joseph. My favorite story of Jesus is where he is telling his disciples to let the children come to him and that we all should have the faith of a child.
