Jesus was a baby just like me.
Jesus learned to walk one step at a time
just like me.

With sweet and simple text and colorful illustrations, Little Jesus, Little Me helps your child connect with Jesus at an early age and learn about God's great love. This book will soon become a favorite for you and your little one!

Inside the book.

My Thoughts

Teaching little ones that Jesus was once a baby just like they were is one of the first ways that we introduce Him to our children. It's a concept that Doris Rikkers has made just a bit easier to teach in her delightful new book Little Jesus, Little Me.

She begins with stating that "Jesus was a little baby . . .just like me." And then takes the reader on a journey of milestones like learning to walk, being rocked to sleep, and reading. In each event she tells the reader (your little one) that Jesus did these same things just like they do.

I know this is a very simplistic book but I think it is very valuable in setting the stage for our children to grasp what John 1:14 tells us. "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." It's a humbling thought the older you get but as a little one it's important to know that Jesus came into this world the same way they did and did the same everyday things that they do.

Lizzie Walkley's illustrations are just adorable. I love the sweet little children that she's drawn. Their innocent delight just leaps off the page.

I recommend this simple little book to anyone that is beginning to introduce their little ones to Jesus.

A Sing-Along Book

Juvenile Fiction

If you're happy and you know it,
then your face will surely show it!
If you're happy and you know it,
clap your hands.

Read or sing along with your little one's favorite song! If You're Happy and You Know It encourages children to CLAP, STOMP, and shout HOO-RAY as they celebrate being happy in this delightful addition to the beloved Sing-Along series.

Inside the book.

My Thoughts

This book and the rest of the books in the series should be on every toddler's bookshelf. It has been the best way to change an attitude that we have found. After all how long can you continue throwing a hissy fit when If You're Happy and You Know It is being sung.

This delightful little board book has brought our family lots of laughter and silly antics. You already know the lyrics and I'm sure you can even add some additional verses. I'm pretty sure that your family with have as much fun with it as we have.

Ms. Szucs whimsical drawings of animated animal characters are just icing on the cake. The colors are bright and very engaging. Our little ones loved finding and identifying all of the animals included on each page.

This book really would make a wonderful addition to your little one's personal library. It would also make a perfect baby shower gift. You would be doing that new momma a favor and she wouldn't even realize it.

Fault Lines #1

There isn't much that can throw Charlie Hazard off balance. But the mystery woman with the striking eyes and the intense request to follow her--now--is about to shake his world. Knowing little more than her name, Charlie leaves his post as a guard at the Satellite Beach community center for what he thinks is just another risk-containment job. Reese Clawson relishes her work at the Combine and all the perks and power that come with it--including the ability to manipulate perceptions. My Thoughts

I enjoyed this book so much but I have to admit that I was a bit confused. I have previously read Double Edge (an ebook prequel to the series), Trial Run, and Flash Point. So I was expecting Fault Lines to be book three in the series. It's not.

Fault Lines is actually book one. (Yes, it was published last but it is really the first.) When I began reading the book I kept thinking I've read this before. It's because I had. Double Edge is covered almost verbatim in chapter one of Fault Lines. The story then continues on giving details that nicely bridge into Trial Run.

So if you're like me and already read what are now books two and three don't worry about reading Fault Lines. You'll have details that you already know but there will be a nice clarity to what is going on. In fact I'm thinking of going back and rereading Trial Run and Flash Point.

If you're new to this series go ahead and skip the ebook and dive right in to Flash Point. You'll be starting at the beginning and I can assure you that you are in for a real treat. I like Thomas Locke's (Davis Bunn) writing and this series is my favorite so far. If you like suspense with a bit of sci-fi elements thrown in this is written for you!

The Return (Amish Beginnings #3) by Suzanne Woods Fisher | Historical Romance Review

The Return (Amish Beginnings #3) by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Amish Beginnings #3
Historical Romance

IN A WILD COUNTRY, THE TRUE
 COST OF LOVE MAY BE
MORE THAN THEY CAN BEAR.

Beautiful and winsome, Betsy Zook never questioned her family's rigid expectations, nor those of devoted Hans--but then she never had to. Not until the night she's taken captive in a surprise Indian raid. Facing brutality and hardship, Betsy finds herself torn between her pious upbringing and the feelings she's developing for a native man who encourages her to see God in all circumstances.

Greatly anguished by Betsy's captivity, Hans turns to Tessa Bauer for comfort. She responds eagerly, overlooking troubling signs of Hans's hunger for revenge. But if Betsy is ever restored to the Amish, will things between Hans and Tessa have gone too far?

Inspired by true events, this deeply layered novel gives a glimpse into the tumultuous days of prerevolutionary Pennsylvania through the eyes of two young, determined, and faith-filled women.

My Thoughts

I have completely enjoyed this series! I've been reading Suzanne's books for quite some time so I am familiar with the Stoney Ridge community. It has been interesting to go back to the beginning and see how the community was established and meet the people who through faith and endurance brought it about.

The Return is the third and final book in this series. I think it can be read as a stand alone novel but of course you'll miss out on all the tidbits of what has gone on before to bring them to this point. Of the three books I felt like this one was the most dramatic and compelling. I hope that Ms. Fisher writes a follow-up series that continues on from here. While the story itself is complete there are still threads that I would like to follow and see where they lead.

One of the most interesting aspects of this novel was that it was based on factual happenings. The author's note at the end explains what parts of the story were true. In my opinion that is what gave this story and series such an intriguing sense of authenticity.

If you are a fan of historical fiction then I think you will like this book. The triumphs and pitfalls of our forefathers are presented in a compelling way and should make for a very compelling read.
