My Thoughts

Usually the best book of the series is the first. The first book in this series, Cold Shot, was very good and the second book, Still Life, was good too but I think this third book is my favorite. I've been thinking about why and I have decided it is because I have come to know the characters better and the underlying story has developed to the point that I can't stand to put it down.

I'm a fan of Dani Pettrey's writing so I knew the suspense element would be good but I believe she's taken her talent for leaving the reader wondering what's next to a whole new level. There is a cliff-hanger at the end of this book that is almost not fair. When I turned that final page I couldn't believe she would torture us so! But of course that's the sign of a good writer's ability to keep the reader wanting more.

After reading Blind Spot I was wishing that I had the discipline to wait to start the series until it was entirely written. But of course I can't! The minute I know the book has been released I want it in my hands. If you enjoy a good dose of suspense sprinkled with some swoon-worthy romance then Dani Pettrey and this series particularly are worth your time. I can't wait for the next book and I think you'll feel the same way.

My Thoughts

I was so excited to get my hands on this book. Three of my favorite romantic suspense authors all under one cover. What could possibly be better?

The funny thing is that I don't usually gravitate to novellas. I like my stories long and detailed. But this collection may have changed my mind. Since the stories had to be short the action began right from the beginning. The pace was fast and the drama unfolded quickly. Because of these details I actually thought the stories were even more suspenseful. 

The first story, Missing, from Dee Henderson is not only heart-pounding it is also heart-gripping. Beyond the shear terror of a missing person's tale this is also a beautiful story of a mother and son and their deep love for each other.

The second story, Shadowed, by Dani Pettrey was a scary but fun trip back in time. The setting is the late 70's in Yancey, Alaska. As a fan of Dani's Alaskan Courage series I was delighted to read the story of Ben and Libby and the beginning of the future McKenna clan. If you've read that series, you must read this as well.

The third and final story, Blackout, by Lynette Eason is a quick snapshot of Lynette's amazing crime drama style. The story was so fast and intense that I didn't figure out the killer until the person was revealed. I would have liked to see this one as a full novel just because I wanted more details but it was a very satisfying and complete read.

If you're a fan of romantic suspense you need to tuck this one into your summer reading stash. You won't be disappointed!

My Thoughts

When Cold Shot landed in my mailbox I was so excited. I absolutely loved Dani Pettrey's last series and could hardly wait to start this new one. 

Once again she has created a cast of characters that draw you in and make you want to know more and more about them. The story (and the series) revolves around four best friends (or at least they were at some point). We get to meet each of them one at a time and slowly we learn about why they have fallen away from each other over the years. This dynamic is going to make the rest of the series quite interesting.

In Cold Shot the main story line is about a mysterious body that is found at Gettysburg where Griffin McCray is a park ranger. So much for leading a quiet life away from all the past! Not only will this discovery bring back Griffin's best friends but it also throws him in very close proximity to the delightful forensic anthropologist Finley Scott. 

Cold Shot is not only a heart pounding suspense novel it is also a tension filled romance. Just as the relationship between Griffin and Finley begins to heat up so does the danger. One of the elements that will make you want to yell advice to the characters is the fact that you know what is going on from the perpetrator's perspective. You get to see what he is planning and it will make you crazy worried for Griffin and Finley. 

If you are a fan of Dani Pettrey you are going to love this new book and series. If you've never read any of Dani's work now is your chance to get on board from the beginning. If you like your suspense novel sprinkled with a bit of romance you can't go wrong with this one.

My Thoughts:

Do you remember the investigative reporter, Darcy St. James from Shattered? Well she's back in book three of the series. She has come to help her friend Abby investigate some mysterious things that have been happening with the cruise ship line.

Darcy is excited to be back in Alaska. It has been five months since she last saw Gage McKenna. No emails, no calls, no nothing! She thought by now she would hear from him. Unbeknownst to Darcy, Gage is spending the summer working on the same cruise ship that her friend Abby is. That would be a happy coincidence except that when Darcy gets there Abby is suddenly missing.

The attraction between Darcy and Gage is still there, but her missing friend Abby takes precedence. If you enjoyed the mystery and suspense mixed with the romantic conflict from the first two books in this series you are definitely going to enjoy this installment.

The Alaskan Courage series just continues to get better. Ms. Pettrey has really hit her stride with this third book in the series. Nothing has slowed down, in fact I thought the tension both stressful situation related and romantic interest related was ratcheted up a notch with this one. For me it was an extremely fast read that left me anticipating the release of the next book in the series. The fourth book will be called Silenced and it is scheduled to be released next summer.

My thoughts:

In book two of the Alaskan Courage series we return to the rustically beautiful town of Yancey, Alaska. During this installment we meet up with the feisty Piper McKenna. She is on a mission to prove that her beloved brother Reef is innocent of the murder of his friend Karli. Her task is complicated by the mounting evidence and the wavering belief of those surrounding them.

The twists and turns of the plot make for a quick page turner of a book. I was delighted that this second book was every bit as good as the previous book Submerged. The relationship between Landon and Piper is filled with angst and yearning which made for the perfect build up to the conclusion.
