Fitness & Faith!

As a professional surfer, Bethany Hamilton knows it's key to keep her body strong. But as a Christian, she knows taking care of her spiritual health is just as important.

While sharing her amazing expertise as a world-class athlete, Bethany helps you become your healthiest, most confident and joyful self. Her easy plan is filled with fun workouts created by her personal trainer, Dustin Dillberg, and includes tons of tasty, good-for-you recipes. Bethany also shares tips for staying stress free and soulful, even on the toughest of days.

Body and Soul includes ways for you to . . .
  • make fitness a fun part of your life (no fancy gym needed!)
  • build confidence and reach your goals
  • learn to enjoy healthy foods (really!)
  • think positively and find balance
Even if you've never hopped onto a surfboard, Bethany shares all the secrets you need to reveal your fittest self--with tons of smiles along the way.

My thoughts:

Body and Soul is a great source of encouragement for young women in their tweens to their college years (and possibly beyond). If you are at all familiar with Bethany's story you know that her recovery from such a tragic accident is a testimony to her faith and perseverance.

With this book she encourages other young women to find those same sources to not only have a healthy life but a happy and fulfilled life. She takes a look at all aspects of our existence that affect not only the physical but the spiritual as well. In her beautiful testimony she explains that you can't have balance in your life unless you are working on both areas.

Not only is this book spiritually uplifting and inspiring, but it includes a large section designed to help you implement ways to make your life healthier. With the help of Dustin Dillberg, Bethany has included four complete workouts that will help you get into shape. They are very well illustrated and the descriptions that go along with the pictures make doing each exercise easy. I liked that there were four included to give you a great variety so as to keep your interest.

Another nice thing about the book is the nutrition sections that were included. You are instructed about making healthier choices in your eating habits and shown how to determine portion sizes. The recipe sections are going to make you drool! The images are mouth-watering and the actual recipes are absolutely delicious. (We tried several just to be sure.)

After all of this information it would be easy to become overwhelmed. But Bethany thought of that and the very last chapter has a one week plan that implements all of the elements contained in the book. Each day outlines what you should eat and when you should eat it. It also includes workout guides and times. It really is the perfect way to wrap the book up so that the reader can put all of the information into practical use.

    1. Great choice. My daughter Whitney (Rambles of a SAHM) started when she was 5 and went on to dance professionally. All I can say is save your pennies. It is an expensive sport, but it is so fun to be the momma watching!
