How long, Lord? Have You forgotten me forever?
Day after day I struggle, but You don't seem to answer.
Father, I don't know what to do. Please help me.

Does this sound like you? Are you waiting for God to answer your prayers? Do the days, weeks, and years go by with no evidence that your deepest longings will ever come to fruition? Do you wonder if the Father has abandoned you or if the best opportunities have passed you by?

If so, you're not alone. In fact, you are facing a common faith-building challenge of the Christian life, and trusted pastor Dr. Charles Stanley has the guidance you need to endure victoriously.

The Lord has very special plans for you, and the way He most often prepares you for them is through times of directed, purposeful, active, courageous waiting. Of course, learning to wait expectantly for God is one of the most difficult lessons we as believers ever experience. So Dr. Stanley gives you the timeless, biblical teaching and practical wisdom that will help you make the most of the delays and follow the Father's lead to the blessings you long for.

With counsel for understanding God's will, claiming biblical promises, and staying on track when all hope seems gone. Dr. Stanley draws on personal experience and biblical principles to offer you encouragement and guidance no matter where you are on your spiritual journey.

My Thoughts

If you are like most people you are well acquainted with waiting. It can be the most annoying thing in the world, especially when the end result is something much anticipated. When you are waiting on God your anxiety can creep up to a whole new level.

In Waiting On God Dr. Stanley presents a way of waiting that is meant to decrease your anxiety and actually change that stress into positive actions. Dr. Stanley opens the book with examples from the life of David. Talk about someone that spent a good portion of their lives waiting on God! Another example that he uses is Abraham and Sarah. Abraham was 75 years old before God even told him he would become a father. It would be another 25 years before the promised child would arrive. Can you even begin to fathom the agony of waiting that long?

Through the use of biblical examples Dr. Stanley leads the reader on a journey to discovering how waiting can actually be a time of preparation. So often we think that when we don't hear from God immediately we are being punished. But what if you changed your point of view to that of anticipating His answer rather than assuming He is either ignoring or chastising you?

Not one thing in this book is a new principle. Every single thing that Dr. Stanley presents comes from the Word of God. The difference for me was actually reading what had been written thousands of years ago with an expectancy of hearing from God.

Dr. Stanley is an author/teacher that I have long trusted. His words speak truth and always point the reader to the Bible and the God who authored it. I always come away from his books with a stronger understanding of Scripture and a deepening love for my Savior.
