Pearl River #1
Romantic Suspense

Her next move just might be her last

No sooner has Alexis Stone been sworn in as the interim chief deputy for Russell County, Tennessee, than a serial killer dubbed the Queen's Gambit Killer strikes again--this time in her hometown. Pearl Springs is just supposed to be a temporary stop along the way to Alex's real dream: becoming the first female police chief of Chattanooga. But the killer's calling card--a white pawn and a note with a chess move printed on it--cannot be ignored.

Pearl Springs chief of police Nathan Landry can't believe that his high school sweetheart Alexis (he refuses to call her Alex) is back in town, and he can't help wanting to protect the woman he never stopped loving. But as the danger mounts and the killer closes in, can Nathan come through on the promise he makes to himself to bring a killer to justice before it's too late?

My Thoughts

I am not a chess player but I was intrigued by this new series from Patricia Bradley. I was left guessing the next move up until the very end. If this first installment is any indication, this is going to be a riveting series.

The main character is Alexis Stone. She grew up Pearl Springs where her beloved grandfather is the chief deputy of the Sheriff's department. Alexis' aspirations center on climbing the ladder at the Chattanooga police department. But through a series of events she finds herself temporarily taking her grandfather's place in Pearl Springs.

Pearl Springs is supposed to be a sleepy little community but a serial killer that has been dubbed the Queen's Gambit Killer has begun to prey upon the town. This puts Alexis and Nathan Landry, Pearl Springs Chief of Police, on high alert. Do they have what it takes to match wits with this serial killer?

I enjoyed all the maneuvering and plot twists that this story had. Patricia Bradley is on top of her game with this one. I had suspicions about several of the characters but truthfully I was stumped as to who the serial killer was until right before it was revealed. It is very well written and if you enjoy romantic suspense I think you'll be pleased with this book.

My Thoughts

Cold cases are fascinating to me. You know that someone out there has the answer, it's just a matter of finding that person. The other thing that I am intrigued by is a case of wrongful conviction. It's interesting to see the reaction of people when the wrongfully convicted person is exonerated. Don't the people involved want the correct person imprisoned?

That's where we find ourselves in Patricia Bradley's newest novel. There is a convicted murderer on death row awaiting his sentence in a little over a week. The crime was awful and it seemed pretty clear cut that they got the right guy, but then a letter that says differently brings doubt about the conviction.

Andi Hollister is a crime reporter and is closely related to the case. The victim was her beloved older sister. For years Andi has believed they arrested the right guy. But now things just aren't quite adding up. With the help of the Memphis Cold Case Unit she dives right in to find out the truth.

Will Kincaide is the detective assigned to the cold case. It's also very personal to him. The convicted criminal is his cousin. Will has never been able to believe that his cousin was capable of such an act. Now he has the chance to prove it.

If you've ever read a Patricia Bradley novel you already know you are in for a ride. The timeline of a week makes all of the action tight and intense. The continual twists and turns keep you flipping pages long after you should have put the bookmark in. I won't spoil the end but it was something that I didn't see coming until the very last. I enjoyed how developed the characters were. You could feel the agony of wanting justice yet also wanting to make sure it is the correct person. The tension between the facts and not wanting it to be so was palpable. If you love a little romance mixed in with a suspenseful story then this is the book for you!

Silence In The Dark (Logan Point #4) by Patricia Bradley | Romantic Suspense Review

Logan Point #4
Romantic Suspense

BAILEY ADAMS IS RUNNING FOR HER LIFE . . .
AGAIN.

When Bailey Adams left Logan Point two years ago she thought she was getting away from her problems. Running into her ex-fiancé Danny Maxwell was not part of the plan--neither was being chased through the city by the local drug cartel, the Calatrava. Now despite her best efforts, Danny is her only chance of escaping the people chasing her and getting back to Logan Point safely. Can Bailey find the strength to face what's coming? And in the midst of the chaos, can she keep herself from falling in love with her rescuer all over again?

With lean, fast-paced prose that will keep you turning the pages, Patricia Bradley pens a superb story of suspense and second chances.

My Thoughts

Patricia Bradley ended the Logan Point series with a bang! I've enjoyed watching each of the characters develop and move on with their lives and I've also eagerly anticipating each of the new characters in the following novels. Each story has had it's own unique story line but there has been a thread that was woven through each story.

Silence In The Dark begins in Mexico where Bailey Adams is serving as a missionary. By chance Bailey stumbles upon the local drug cartel and that leads to some very intense survival scenes. I was drawn even further into the unfolding drama by the selfless acts of strangers. We're reminded that sometimes it's important to reach beyond yourself and make a difference in someone's life, even if you don't know them.

I refuse to give away an ending, but I will say this, you will be blown away with the beauty of a second chance. When I closed the cover I had a smile on my face. In the end we're reminded that circumstances may seem dire but there is always hope because God is on His throne.

Gone Without A Trace (Logan Point, Book 3) by Patricia Bradley

Logan Point, Book 3
Romantic Suspense

THE PAST IS REPEATING ITSELF--AND TIME IS
RUNNING OUT

It's been more than two years since homicide detective Livy Reynolds's cousin disappeared from Logan Point. Unlike most people in her hometown, Livy has never believed that Robyn left voluntarily. When Dallas private investigator Alex Jennings contacts her concerning a senator's missing granddaughter who was last seen in Logan Point, Livy notices eerie similarities between the two disappearances. With self-doubt plaguing her and an almost instant dislike of the self-assured PI, she's finding this investigation an uphill battle. But with the prospect of finding her cousin on the horizon, she'll have to find a way to work with Alex--before it's too late.

Award-winning author Patricia Bradley keeps you on the edge of your seat with a case--and a relationship--that is anything but certain.

My Thoughts

If you read Shadows of the Past and A Promise To Protect then you are probably eagerly anticipating Gone Without A Trace. I love a good suspense story and Patricia Bradley is one of the best writers in the Romantic Suspense genre.

This time around our story centers on Livy Reynold's and her missing cousin who disappeared from Logan Point two years ago. Livy has returned to Logan Point for some forced R & R and finds herself caught up in another mysterious disappearance of a prominent senator's granddaughter. Private investigator Alex Jennings comes to town at the behest of the senator to help find the missing girl. Livy and Alex have an electrifying connection right from the beginning. But sometimes electricity can be illuminating and sometimes it can be jolting.

The story itself was fast-paced and riveting. Several suspects were presented and for the longest time I really couldn't rule anyone out. When the final result was in it was a great surprise. Another thing that I liked about this series was that while there were threads of continuity throughout the three novels they were each easily read as a stand alone title. I enjoyed the whole series in order but I think it is a nice bonus when you can pick up a book without having to worry about not understanding what is going on.

Patricia Bradley is a wonderful storyteller and I look forward to reading many more of her books.

A Promise To Protect by Patricia Bradley ~ A Romantic Suspense Review

Logan Point, Book 2
Patricia Bradley
Romantic Suspense

IN A STEAMY SMALL TOWN RIDDLED WITH
BROKEN PROMISES, ONE WOMAN'S SECRET
COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING.

Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her--or their whirlwind romance of ten years ago--out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. But all too soon, Ben is charged with a different task--protecting Leigh from the people after her brother. With Leigh doing everything in her power to avoid Ben, it's no easy task. And the secret she is keeping just may change their lives forever.

My Thoughts

Patricia Bradley is quickly becoming one of my favorite romantic suspense writers. In A Promise To Protect she takes us back to the little Southern town of Logan Point. Ben Logan has been appointed acting sheriff while his father, the elected sheriff recovers from a shooting. Logan Point is usually a sleepy little town but an uptick of crimes seems to have coincided with the return of Dr. Leigh Somerall.

Leigh grew up in Logan Point but was from a not so upstanding family and earned a bad reputation through some of her antics. She was interested in Ben but he didn't take notice of her until college. Their romance seemed to be a match made in heaven until one fateful encounter changed everything. She's now a respected physician and decided to return to Logan Point to be close to her only brother Tony. Leigh has a very big secret to hide but the longer she's in town the trickier it is becoming.

From the opening scenes of the book there is a murder and it looks like Leigh may be the next target. But as with every good suspense book, everything isn't as it appears. Could Ben really be the target? If so, who's behind the attacks and why?

This fast-paced novel will keep you guessing up until the very end. Layer by layer the story begins to emerge of  secrets, scandals and outright lies. I think you will enjoy uncovering the mysteries surrounding Ben, Leigh and the other residents of Logan Point.

A Promise To Protect  is book two in the Logan Point series. Book one is Shadows of the Past. Each book can easily be read as a stand-alone title, but of course I think you'd enjoy reading them both.

Shadows of the Past by Patricia Bradley ~ A Suspense Book Review

Logan Point, Book 1
Romantic Suspense

Nick Sinclair pens mystery novels for a living, but the biggest mystery to him is how he can ever get over the death of his wife--a tragedy he believes he could have prevented. Now that his estranged brother is the only family he has left, Nick sets out to find him. But when he crosses paths with Taylor, all he seems to find is trouble.

Join the chase as Taylor and Nick search the murky shadows of the past for the keys to unlocking the present--and moving into a future they never imagined.

My thoughts:

Taylor Martin is happy in her teaching job at the university and pursuing a lucrative career as a much sought after criminal profiler. Life seems to be going so well, until it isn't. Her fiance has dumped her and married another woman and one of her students seems to be stalking her. Before she knows it her whole carefully created life has blown apart.

She finally decides to return home to Logan Point, Mississippi to try and solve a twenty year old mystery that involves the disappearance of her father. But going home proves to be stickier than she thought it would be. There are things brewing that Taylor had not anticipated.

Nick Sinclair is a best-selling author of mystery novels. While his professional life seems to be on the rise, his personal life is filled with tragedy. His beloved wife died in his arms and he is wracked with guilt over not being capable of saving her. To make matters worse his estranged half brother has reemerged desperately needing his help.

Patricia Bradley has put together a riveting tale that takes you into the depths of the twisted psyche of the human mind. She probes the topic of how far someone would go to fulfill their own desires. I enjoyed the developing relationship between Taylor and Nick, there is some serious steam going on there! As the layers of the story are peeled back you begin to see who is behind all the terror, but until the very end you don't completely understand all the whys. Great opening to what promises to be a chilling (in a good way!) new series.
