My Thoughts

This delightful little board book is designed for the youngest in the family. It contains a very basic retelling of the Nativity story. While the wording is simple the illustrations a vibrant and visually pleasing. 

With each flip of the page a simple sentence tells another part of the story. And in that sentence a single word is emphasized. What a great way to gently begin teaching the very important parts of Jesus' birth.

If you have someone in the under three crowd I think this would make a wonderful addition to their Christmas book stash!

This beautiful retelling of the birth of Jesus celebrates that fateful night in Bethlehem so long ago. The story begins with Mary and Joseph's arrival in Bethlehem and continues through Christ's birth, the angels' appearance to the shepherds, and the wise men's visit. Simple, elegant verses are brought to life with lush oil paintings, creating an enchanting reading experience for little ones and their families.

My Thoughts

The artwork in this book is just stunning. It may have been written for children but this adult sure enjoyed it. 

The story of the Nativity is told in rhyming verse that will remind you of the poem 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. The cadence is the same so it has a rhythm to it that is somewhat easy to read. There's one portion that was a little glitchy to me but I am sure that I will get better at it with each reading. 

We have the board book version but there are also hardback and paperback versions. I like this board book edition because we have lots of little fingers but I think the hardback edition would be lovely to display on a coffee table during the Christmas season.

I recommend this book for your Christmas collection, if for nothing else than the beautiful artwork. You won't be disappointed!

My Thoughts

What a fun little book! The story starts in Chile with Nana Nina who owns her own sock shop. In order to celebrate each sale she adds a new row to a sock and the sock just grows and grows. Eventually she's declared the world record holder for the longest sock.

Meanwhile Chuck in New Zealand has been happily knitting away during his quiet evenings at home. He's lonely and knitting helps pass the time. When he hears of Nina's accomplishment he decides to try for the record himself.

The story goes on to tell about the support of each individual's community of friends and family. The award goes back and forth until eventually the two are declared the winners of the longest PAIR of socks.

It's a fun way to talk about healthy competition and also how to come together to make something happen. The story is cute but I also have to mention how darling the illustrations are. This book would make a lovely addition to your family's personal library. I would even use it for a gift.

My Thoughts

Trick or Treat You're So Sweet! is such an adorable little book. The focus is on the actual candy each trick or treater receives rather than anything scary. Each page has a lift the flap door that hides a cute little trick or treater. The verse matches that candy given to the costume the little one is wearing. Such a clever idea. 

If you are looking for a non candy gift for a special kiddo this would be an excellent choice. I've ordered a couple of extras for my grands.
