Gray Matter by David Levy, MD

I first thought this book was going to be a lot of medical information. However it was so much more than that. In Gray Matter Dr. Levy shares his patients’ stories and how he was able to change lives by praying with his patients. If you like Discovery Health shows you will love this book.

The book starts off with Dr. Levy telling a story about one of his patients and how his journey started. This is what I loved about the book. Hearing peoples’ stories and how he helped them drew me into this book and kept me reading. It was all interesting and I learned some medical this along the way!

I wish there were more physicians like Dr. Levy who are willing to care enough about their patients to fix their problems as patients and also invest in their spiritual lives as a friend would. I think the point of Dr. Levy's book is to meet people's need both physically and spiritually no matter our professions. That is what God has called his children to do!

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves medical shows and wants to feel inspired to share their faith with others. I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The Bridge of Peace (Ada's House #2) by Cindy Woodsmall | Amish Fiction Review

The Bridge of Peace is book two in the Ada's House series. I have been looking forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint! I love how Woodsmall writes the characters as everyday people. I had to remind myself that this was fiction. However the struggles the characters go through were very real. The story was relatable and interesting. It is what I call a ‘fast read’ because I could not put it down!

One of the struggles discussed in this book is grief! Wow! What a topic. Woodsmall does an excellent job of describing Grey's struggle with grief and how it effects being a parent to his son, and his relationships with others. Grey questions everything he has done and is constantly wrestling with how to handle all this grief. I found this part of the story really fascinating. I hate grief! Grief seems to suck the life from the living and I often find myself asking God 'Why?' just as Grey does. In the end Woodsmall intertwines God's faithfulness and love with the story The Bridge of Peace.

I loved this story it hit all the points for me. I could relate to the characters and left encouraged! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Amish fiction as well as those who have never read Amish fiction. Woodsmall is an excellent writer and I look forward to book three the final book in the Ada's House series due out fall 2011!

I would recommend this book to families who are looking for encouragement on how to parent and they will finish this book knowing the steps they need to take! I look forward to my husband reading this book and would give this book 4.5 stars.

Snowed In SAHM idea!!

 Since it is too cold for the kids to go out and play in the snow bring in the snow!

One idea is to fill the bath tub up with clean snow and let kids play in it like a sand box!
Another idea is to put snow in a bowl and use food dye to color the snow.

Hope this helps kids from being bored for awhile!
